Bio and Backstory

Georgia "Gia" Roberts, Auror and former (non-evil) Slytherin. Full application is under the cut and this is the place to backstory! :)

Character Information
Name: Georgia "Gia" Kate Roberts
LJ Username: (if available) georgia_roberts
Location: Hogwarts (Temporarily)
Former House: Slytherin
Age: 21
Birthdate: August 13
Occupation: Auror. Georgia had always planned on becoming a hit wizard as a young girl, convinced that 'fighting crime' was an honorable position in wizarding society, and a good standing was exactly what she needed as an outcast of her house. Her ambition, however, eventually led her to believe that becoming an auror was a much more active and enjoyable route. Hit wizards captured known criminals, but aurors? Aurors took care of all Dark Wizards, and if there was anything Georgia disliked more than anything? It was wizards with attitude. She has been working from her cubicle for the past few months, but news of the attacks on Hogsmeade and the temporary displacement of Dumbledore as Headmaster of Hogwarts encouraged the ministry to station more aurors at the castle. She does not believe her work at Hogwarts will last longer than a few weeks (though she'll be staying longer than she realizes!).

Bloodline: Muggleborn
Heritage: (Scottish, Irish, etc) Greek - British
Personal History: Georgia Roberts, or "Gia" to her family and friends, had always showed signs of being rather difficult to manage. As a middle child, Gia never believed that she received the proper amount of attention from her parents. Gia's brother, Michael, was only a year older than her and excelled in sports. Her younger brother, Theo, was reading at the level of students twice his age when he was six! In order to be heard in her household, Gia had to make a scene each time she had something on her mind that she wished to be discussed. The Roberts were made nervous by the tendency of lightbulbs to dim every time Gia raised her voice, but thought nothing of it until she recieved her Hogwarts letter at age 11. Georgia, happy to be away from home and given the opportunity to shine, was oblivious to the nature of many Slytherin students. Hearing the hat speak of great ambition and cunning, Gia was pleased to be sorted into the house of the snake. It wouldn't take long for Georgia to discover that she was not welcomed to the castle by all, a fact that almost made her wish she'd not left the comfort of her muggle world invisibility.

Georgia's family was rather poor in comparison to most, and she struggled to make ends meet while in school. Her robes were often secondhand, though her books she insisted had to be brand new. Each textbook she considered a privilige and her very own, which explained the extensive notes taken in the margins of every single one. Gia, however, was not all that interested in learning more than she had to, she simply knew that in order to succeed without the advantage of bloodline, she had to prove herself academically.

Gia was also able to finally show she was just as talented with sports as her older brother. Despite several complaints by the Captain of the team, Gia was given a chaser position on the Slytherin team in her fourth year. The dislike of her teammates provided an extra challenge on the pitch. Gia has always been fond of challenges, achieving her goals by whatever means possible. Whether it be mind games or pure hard work, Georgia has hardly given herself the chance to hear 'no'. At an early age she realized that wealth and birth right weren't everything and has been convinced of her responsibility to fight the dark wizards she was surrounded by in school. Although Georgia has also desired a good deal of respect, power, and financial stability, she likes to think she fights for social justice just as much as the next auror.
Personality: Georgia has always been a fan of independence and quick thinking, often ignoring the thoughts and feelings of others to follow her own instinct. Although she has several qualities thought to be mainly Gryffindor, her most obvious character traits lay with ambition and determination. Gia has always set high goals for herself and has no trouble following through in any way she sees necessary. Though she does consider herself to have morals and limits, she's never too fast to turn down a way to receive what she's had her eye on. She can come off as condescending or self-involved, but she does have the best of intentions. As someone considered inferior in her own house, and overlooked by her own family, she resents the ideals of elitists and has worked hard to lessen their influence in wizarding society. All of this while bettering her own situation, of course, as every journey has its own small, hidden motive.

Georgia is fond of using words to her advantage and meeting the right people to successfully complete a mission. She hates being stuck in her cubicle, and often enjoys insulting her boss when he's not around to listen. Although she can occasionally seem snobbish herself, she loathes people who display a concern only for their own well-being. She dislikes having to answer to those in higher positions, but she does as she is told if it is to her benefit... or, more importantly, the benefit of whatever she is aiming to achieve. She may be self-involved at times, but Gia isn't completely selfish. She knows what she wants, she knows how to get it, and every positive and negative result of such a personality she takes as they come.

Physical Description: Brown hair, brown eyes, athletic build, around 5'9" in height, weighs about 135 pounds.
Preferred Body Model: Kate Beckinsale

If this is your first UK character: Please give us a sample RP, at least one paragraph in length.
N/A

Hobbies and talents - max of five: Quidditch (Gia played beater on the Slytherin team. She likes to keep up when she can in "auror friendly" matches. She hopes that being positioned at Hogwarts might make playing even more possible, especially with the enthusiasm of older students.), Word Puzzles (Crosswords, Wordfinds, wizarding specialty games in the Daily Prophet - Gia will play anything! She thinks of word games as a stress reliever, though they also help build her thinking skills for different scenarios.)
Weaknesses - for every hobby or talent, the character must have two weaknesses: Self-involved (Gia tends to care about herself more than she cares about others. Ironically, this can often be the case when she is trying to help other people with no real pay off for herself in the end. She thinks she knows herself better than anyone, which means she rationalizes things instead of being selfless), Inexperienced (Gia can convince herself all she wants that she is the best auror to come out of training in ages, but she really has just come out of training. She's not been through enough to really know what is what.), Passionate (Although this can be seen as a wonderful quality in a certain light, it can cause Gia serious problems in work and in life. She doesn't always know how to take things less than personally, and if she cares about something? She will stop at nothing to make sure that things go the way she's imagined they will), Somewhat shameless (She does what she has to, even if she breaks a few rules or manipulates a few people. It has worked for her thus far, so she sees no reason to stop and take a different approach to getting what she wants. A lie seems nearly harmless to her, but perhaps a reality check will bring things into perspective for her in time.)
Areas of Magical Expertise: Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration
Areas of Magical Weakness: Herbology, Divination
Broom: Cirrus 1000
Wand: 9 inches, oak, flexible, unicorn hair core

Alignment: (does your character support Voldemort? Anti-Voldemort? Please note that this must be in keeping with your character, as a Muggleborn would have no reason whatsoever to follow Voldemort. This information will also not be shared with anyone but the mods) Anti-Voldemort
